We have some exciting opportunities available at Barking and Dagenham College. We are looking for Job Coach to join our REACH team.

You will join us on a permanent 36 hours per week, term-time only basis (40 weeks per year), and in return, we will offer a competitive salary of £25931 to £27332 per annum, inclusive of London Weighting pro rata.

The Job Coach role:

The purpose of the Job Coach, Business Engagement role and the REACH Supported Internship project is to enable young people with a learning disability to secure a real job either with the host employer or outside.

The Job Coach, role supports the REACH intern over a period of one academic year by providing specific job skills as they gain employability skills.

The Job coach provides further follow on support to the same group of interns to access long term employment either with the host employer or elsewhere as a key outcome of the role. The coach also provides support to the interns business colleagues, families, so as to ensure successful skill learning and assimilation into the work environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Job Coach:

  • Provide individualised support to the interns at the host business worksite or at follow-on job site.
  • Directly coach interns as part of the job coaching plan, using Training through Systematic Instruction (TSI) methodology.
  • Support interns to integrate into a job role by training them in all areas that support employability.
  • Work with families/carers, job placement specialists, agency personnel, and other appropriate parties to problem solve issues relating to employability.
  • Work with the REACH Tutor/Job Coach and educational partner to review intern performance and carry out monitoring and auditing as required.

Our ideal Job Coach should have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • GCSE A-C, Grade 4 or above or Level 2 in English and Math’s 
  • Have recent and relevant experience of teaching SEND learners at Entry level and level 1 
  • Experience of working with young people with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
  • Experience of working in a customer service environment 
  • Possessing a training/coaching qualification at level 2 or above would be desirable
  • Certificate in TSI – Systematic Instruction Methodology is also desirable
