What You’ll Be Doing

As a Lecturer in IT, you will deliver high-quality teaching across one or more IT programmes, contributing to innovative curriculum development and ensuring learners are industry-ready.

You will:

  • Teach and assess on IT courses within the curriculum area, contributing to the development of new and innovative provision
  • Plan engaging lessons and schemes of work, incorporating flexible, blended and motivational teaching approaches
  • Complete all associated administrative duties efficiently, including registers, lesson documentation, E-ILPs and learner tracking
  • Develop learner-centred assessment strategies in line with college policy and Awarding Body requirements
  • Provide constructive, developmental feedback that supports progress and achievement
  • Monitor and track learner attendance, progress and success, aiming for strong achievement rates (minimum 80% success rate aspiration for long and all qualifications)
  • Undertake personal coaching, tutorial and pastoral responsibilities to support learner progression
  • Maintain safe, well-managed IT learning environments, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards
  • Keep up to date with developments in IT and digital technologies, as well as current teaching, learning and assessment practices
  • Participate in open evenings, enrolment, recruitment activities, study trips and cross-college initiatives
  • Contribute actively to course team meetings, quality improvement processes and peer review activities

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a passionate IT specialist who combines strong industry knowledge with excellent teaching practice.

You should have:

  • A degree or professional qualification in an IT-related subject alongside a recognised teaching qualification

In addition, you will demonstrate:

  • Substantial relevant teaching experience within Further or Higher Education (or strong industry experience with a desire to transition into teaching)
  • Excellent classroom management and learner engagement skills
  • Experience using learner-centred assessment strategies
  • Strong administrative skills and the ability to accurately track learner progress
  • A commitment to continuous professional development
  • An understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and inclusive practice
  • The ability to contribute positively to quality improvement and curriculum enhancement
